WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s cross country program and head coach Trish Butler have announced their race plans for the upcoming 2012 season. The Sailfish, who made great strides in Butler’s first season at the helm last season, will look to make it back to the NCAA Regional for the second straight season. The team will run in a number of regional races as they compete against top-level NCAA Division I and II programs from around the country.
The team is coming off a fifth place finish at last season’s NCAA South Regional race as they competed in a NCAA postseason event for the first time in program history.
The season kicks off the last day of August as the ladies will take part in the Early Bird Invitational in Tampa, Florida as the University of Tampa hosts their annual race.
Up next will be back-to-back weeks at Division I programs, the University of Miami on September 8th for the Greentree Invitational followed up by a trip to Gainesville, Florida for the annual Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida.
Other regional sites will include the FLRunners.com Invitational in Titusville, Florida and the Black and Gold Challenge hosted by the University of Central Florida. The Fish will take on the field in Titusville on September 28th followed by their clash in Orlando on October 12th.
The NCAA South Regional will be hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville on November 3rd.
With preseason only about a month away, the Sailfish runners along with their competition will be gearing up soon for another fall season.
