Women's Tennis to Play at NCCAA National Tournament

MOBILE, Ala.- After narrowly missing out on the NCAA Division II South Regional postseason tournament the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team will now set their sights on an upcoming trip to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. Held at the Mobile Tennis Center from May 7-11, the tournament will welcome in eight teams in both a men’s and women’s bracket including two pools.
The Sailfish will compete in Pool B on the women’s side along with Campbellsville University, Northwestern College (Minn.) and Bethel College (Ind.).
They will begin with an 8:30 am matchup with Northwestern College on Tuesday, May 8th followed later in the day with a 2:30 pm match versus Bethel College.
Day two of action on Wednesday, May 9th will square off PBA versus Campbellsville University at 9 am to round out pool play.
From there the Sailfish will hope to advance to the next round where the two pools will take their top two finishers for the semi-finals beginning at 9 am on Thursday, May 10th. The championship match will take place on Friday, May 11th at 9 am followed by an awards ceremony.
Pool A will include Dallas Baptist University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Emmanuel College and Cedarville University.
The Sailfish have reached the NCCAA Championship match each of the last four seasons, finishing as the National Runner-Up in each season. The past three seasons have seen the Fish matched up against fellow NCAA Division II foe, Dallas Baptist University.
The women’s tennis program won the NCCAA National Championship in 2004.
