West Palm Beach, Fla.- Before a sizable crowd on senior day for the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s soccer team at Lantana Field, the Florida Southern College Moccasins came in and soundly defeated the Fish on Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-0.
The Fish never could quite get into an offensive rhythm as the Mocs improved to 11-6 overall while the loss brought PBA’s overall record down to a disappointing 4-7-1.
Liz Gorman of FSC got the scoring started when she received a pass from Princess Haley to give the Mocs an early 1-0 advantage. The scoring wouldn’t stop there as Florida Southern tacked on goal number two in the 29th minute via a goal from Linda Hoglund.
During the second period of play, the Mocs would push on as Hoglund once again got in on the action, this time setting up freshman Jackie Bachteler on a quick strike score. Rounding out the scoring for FSC came from midfielder Christina Crooks who notched the final goal of the evening to wrap the scoring at 4-0.
Playing in their final home game of their careers, Sailfish senior’s Erin Shelton, Stephanie Martin, and Allison LaForte were all honored in a pregame ceremony.
Up next for the Fish on their remaining 2007 regular season schedule a trip to Rollins College on Tuesday, October 23rd when PBA squares off against the Tars at 7:00 p.m. in Winter Park, Florida.
