Women's Tennis Comes Away with 8-1 Win Over St. Thomas University

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team improved their season record to 11-3 on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 win at St. Thomas University thanks to a dominating effort in singles while only dropping one doubles match. The Sailfish ladies have now won eight of their last nine matches.
Veena Vasquez and Leydi Zora continue to lead the team from the No. 1-doubles spot as they earned an 8-5 win while Victoria Baca and Natalia Trotter also have been solid at No. 2-doubles with an 8-5 win as well.
Vasquez breezed through action at No. 1-singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win followed by Baca with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2-singles. Zora also posted a solid showing with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3-singles for the Fish.
Trotter held on for a 7-6 win in her opening set followed by an easy 6-0 win for a win at No. 4-singles while Vilja Vahatalo and Maria Jimenez each earned wins at No. 5 and 6-singles respectively.
The Fish will take on St. Edwards University in a neutral site match in Melbourne, Florida on Friday, March 30th for their next match.
