DELRAY BEACH, Fla.- One day after the men’s tennis teams from Palm Beach Atlantic University and Southern New Hampshire University got together at the Delray Tennis Center, the ladies would also gather for a match on Saturday morning. With the men’s match coming down to the wire in a PBA victory, the Sailfish women’s team made it a bit easier on themselves as they collected a more dominant 7-2 win over SNHU.

The Sailfish (4-2) managed to win two-of-three in doubles as Veena Vasquez and Leydi Zora earned a tight 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles while Victoria Baca and Natalia Trotter defeated their competition at No. 2-doubles by a more comfortable 8-3 score.

With SNHU hot on their heels with a No. 3-doubles win, the Fish put the pressure back on the opposition with solid play up-and-down their singles.

Vasquez posted a 7-6, 6-0 win at No. 1-singles while Baca was strong with a 6-0, 4-1 (retired) win at No. 2-singles to set the tone.

After Diana Vamvakitis earned a No. 3-singles win over PBA’s Leydi Zora by a 6-2, 6-3 win, the Fish fired back with wins by Natalia Trotter, Alexis Antista and Maria Jimenez to close out singles and the 7-2 win.

PBA will have a quick turnaround for their next match as they will be beginning their annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina on Sunday, March 4th with a 2:30 pm showdown with Michigan Tech.
