Men's Tennis Blanked in Season Opener at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team opened their 2012 season on Saturday afternoon at Saint Leo University where the No. 18-ranked Lions took all nine sets en route to a 9-0 sweep of the Sailfish. With two top-25 ranked individual players at the top of singles and doubles, the Lions proved too strong for the new-look Sailfish at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.

No. 32-ranked Matt Nicholson-Lewis defeated freshman Mick Lyons 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1-singles while No. 27-ranked Victor Lozier took down PBA senior Luke Bolanos 6-5, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

No other singles player for PBA tallied more than two victories as each were defeated in two sets.

Nicholson and Lozier also teamed up at No. 1-doubles where Lyons and Bolanos were defeated 8-3.

The Lions held serve as the No. 6-ranked NCAA South Region team over PBA who came into the match ranked No. 8 in the always-competitive South Region.

PBA will be back in action at Florida Tech on Friday, February 10th for a 2 pm start.
