MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- A tough shooting night on the Sailfish side coupled with an efficient night on the Buccaneers side earned the Barry University women’s basketball team a 66-47 win over Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday night in Miami Shores. Meeting for the third time this season, the Bucs built on a 12-point halftime lead and concluded their night’s work with a 19-point win over PBA to improve to 13-6 on the season.
Barry guard Danielle Berry led all scorers with 19 points on Wednesday as she put home an efficient 7-of-10 field-goals while producing a perfect 3-of-3 at the charity stripe. DeBerry added in six assists in 32 minutes of playing time.
After tallying a 48.1 percent (13-27) shooting clip in the opening half compared to that of 33.3 percent (8-24) by PBA, the Bucs would shoot even better in the second-half as they tallied an even 50 percent (13-26) mark while once again holding the Fish to under 33 percent (8-25, 32 percent).
The Fish were paced by junior Ashley Dolberry who led PBA’s efforts with 12 points while adding in four rebounds and three steals.
Seniors Jordan Kong and Selethia Jackson each topped double-figures as well with 11 and 10 points respectively while fellow senior Loren Wilkins added in a team-high seven boards to go with eight points.
Following DeBerry’s 19 point output, the Bucs also received a strong showing from Colette Eule who chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds off the bench in 24 minutes of court time.
PBA will be back in action in a week as they will travel to Rollins College on Wednesday, February 8th at 7 pm.
