Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Hoping for their second win against a fellow Palm Beach County rival in as many tries, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s basketball team accomplished the feat by defeating Northwood University on Tuesday night at the Rubin Arena. The 61-49 win over the Seahawks backs up a solid win by PBA against Lynn University, another Palm Beach County foe, as the Fish improved to 7-12 on the season.

Senior Selethia Jackson and Ashley Dolberry both put together big performances on Wednesday as they each eclipsed double-figures in points and rebounds on the night. Jackson poured in a season-high of 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting while grabbing 14 boards while Dolberry was an efficient 5-of-6 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line for 16 points while adding in 12 rebounds.

The Fish would never trail in the contest as they jumped out early and then extended their lead to double-digits at halftime.

A trip to the free-throw line just before the halftime buzzer sounded allowed Jackson to make good on one of two free-throws as PBA entered the break with a 33-22 lead.

The Seahawks (4-14) were limited to only a 33 percent (9-27) shooting effort in the first-half while the Sailfish managed slightly better at 44 percent (11-25).

The second stanza featured an identical shooting mark for PBA as they sunk 11-of-25 shots from the field and extended their lead to as many as 23 points when senior Jordan Kong delivered a layup with 10:22 to play.

The Seahawks would not quit and trimmed the lead down to 12 points but they could never get the lead back down to a more manageable score.

Kong backed up Jackson and Dolberry’s efforts with 11 points on the night while Loren Wilkins and Hayley Fields each chipped in with six points.

Lynsey Poole once again led the way from the point guard position with seven assists and six rebounds while picking up two steals.

Keishla Rivera led the Seahawks in scoring with 15 points on five made 3-pointers in 12 attempts while Yasmene Harris added in 14 points on a 6-of-16 shooting night.

PBA hits the road for their next contest when they will travel to the University of Tampa as part of a PBA-UT basketball double-header on Saturday, January 21st beginning with a 2 pm tipoff.
