TIFFIN, Ohio- With the 2011 season now in the books the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s soccer team now enters the season of postseason awards. Both the NCCAA and Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) recently released their All-Region and All-ICAA award winners for the 2011 season with a pair of Sailfish players included.

The ICAA is composed of NCAA Division II schools that are not in a conference.  Women’s soccer members are Chowan University, the University of Central Oklahoma, Lindenwood University, Notre Dame College, Oakland City University, Palm Beach Atlantic, Urbana University, Ursuline College and Washington Adventist University.

The top honoree comes from freshman Marianne Harnes who earned NCCAA All-Region honors as well as a spot on the All-ICAA second-team.

A native of Haroy, Norway, Harnes completes her first season in a PBA uniform by leading the team in points and assists while finishing second in goals scored. Harnes tallied 11 points on five assists and three goals for the season.

Joining Harnes on the NCCAA All-Region team was senior defender Alyssa DeMonte who closed out her final season with the Fish in fine form as a starting defender. The Freehold, New Jersey native played in 15 of the team’s 16 matches while tallying 878 minutes of field time in the defensive backfield.

The Sailfish concluded their season with a 7-8-1 record.
