Tennis Continues Competition at the Panther Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s and women’s tennis teams continued their weekend matchups at the Panther Invitational on Saturday on the campus of Florida Tech. Singles action took place on Saturday after doubles was played on Friday. The finals of both sessions will be battled for on Sunday.
Playing in a three-flight system, the Sailfish had a number of players perform well for both the men’s and women’s teams.
On the women’s side, head coach Chi Ly sent freshman Veena Vasquez into the A Flight where she was defeated by #1-seed Katerina Huba of Florida Tech 5-7, 2-6 however Vasquez would fight back and defeat Georgia Southwestern Universities’ K. Douberty 6-0, 6-0 in the second match of the day.
Victoria Baca also was a part of the A Flight with a win over Eckerd College’s G. Hawn 7-5, 6-3 before losing 1-6, 2-6 to Florida Tech’s Kristina Huba.
Natalia Trotter will move on to the B Flight finals on Sunday after winning 6-1, 6-0 over Eckerd’s C. Trapp and a close 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-8 win over FIT’s S. Dohner.

Jimenez lost to Kiester (FT) 0-6,3-6 and def. M. Vansant (GSW) 6-0,1-6,10-5
Robinson lost to Close (FT) 1-6,4-6 and then def. H. Craig (GSW) 6-4,6-1
