WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic University head softball coach Kimmy Bloemers released the 2012 spring game schedule on Friday as she and her team have kicked off their fall practice season. Once again putting together a schedule that tests her team against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II softball has to offer, Bloemers and the team have high hopes for another great season.

The team will open at home on Wednesday, February 1st when the team plays host to Florida Tech for a double-header beginning at 5 pm. The matchup against the Panthers will be one of 16 double-headers on the season for the Fish against members of the Sunshine State Conference.

Now in her sixth season leading the Sailfish, Bloemers has also set aside three weekends during the early portion of the season to participate in a trio of tournaments around the Southeast.

First up will be a trip to Saint Leo University as the Lions will host a tournament during the season’s first weekend on February 4-5. The following weekend the Fish will travel back across the state for the Eckerd College Tournament in Clearwater, Florida on Feb. 10-12. Rounding out the early season schedule for PBA will be a first-time trip to Huntsville, Alabama where the team will battle in the University of Alabama-Huntsville Tournament on Feb. 17-19.

The following week the Fish return to a more conventional schedule with road matchups at Lynn University (Feb. 23), the University of Tampa (Feb. 25) and Barry University (Feb. 29).

The team finally returns home for a double-header on March 1st when they host Mercyhurst College at 5 pm.

Other home dates during the second-half of the season include Eckerd College (Mar. 21), Saint Leo University (Mar. 24), Barry University (Mar. 28), Nova Southeastern University (Apr. 5), Florida Southern College (Apr. 12), Lynn University (Apr. 18) and Rollins College (Apr. 21).

The only non-NCAA opponent on the Sailfish schedule is cross-town rival Northwood University as the two teams will battle April 10th at NU and then at PBA on April 25th which will be the regular season finale and senior day for the Sailfish.
