VALDOSTA, Ga.- Needing a pair of victories to move on to Sunday’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional backdraw singles final, Palm Beach Atlantic Univeristy senior Luke Bolanos did just that as he becomes the first Sailfish tennis player to reach the tournament’s final. Bolanos will look for the final victory on Sunday morning at 9 am.

Bolanos took an 8-5 win over Lynn Universities Aumaury Van Haelen in the quarterfinal and then battled Michael Lue of the University of West Florida for an 8-3 victory to reach the prestigious mark.

On the women’s side, freshman Veena Vasquez also performed well as she earned a quarterfinal victory over Jessica Tuggle from the University of West Alabama in dominating fashion at 8-0 before dropping a tough 8-6 decision to Rollins College’s Sara Stejekovic.

Bolanos was a busy man on Saturday as he also took part with #3-seed doubles partner Krasimir Atanasov only to see the highly rated duo fall in a tie-breaker 8-9 to West Florida’s #5-seeded doubles of Ferrera and Savi.
