WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- A new era of Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s basketball has begun and while the game’s outcome may not have been what Sailfish fans had hoped, the future remains bright for a young Sailfish squad. On Monday night before a packed Rubin Arena crowd, the Fish dropped their opener 86-64 to perennial power Rollins College.

Behind the steady play of defending Sunshine State Conference player of the Year Jonny Reibel and his 25 points, the Sailfish and Tars battled throughout the first-half to the tune of a halftime score of 40-28.

Reibel was joined in double-figures by three other Tars scorers including 19 points by Nick Wolf, 12 points by Kevin Hogan, and 11 points for Jeremy Sharpe.

Overall, the Tars blistered the nets from beyond the arc as Rollins collected a shooting percentage of 48% (15-31) while totaling an overall mark of 25-58 from the field.

On the Sailfish side, PBA was led by a 15 point performance by junior Ian Maddison (Houston, Texas) who netted three of five shots from beyond the arc. David Powell and Jonathan Lawrence also post double-digit scoring totals with 13 and 10 respectively.

Newcomer Anthony Gugino (N. Palm Beach, Fla.) just missed out on a double-double by posting nine points and nine rebounds.

Up next for PBA on the schedule is a date with Nova Southeastern University on Saturday, November 24th at the Rubin Arena with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
