HOLLY, Mich.- The Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) and its director, Mike Bond, announced the 2010-11 ICAA men’s and women’s basketball selections last week with two Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s players recognized as part of the postseason honors. Elizabeth Fugate and Selethia Jackson, both junior forwards for the Fish, were named to All-ICAA listing with Fugate garnering 2nd-Team honors and Jackson selected to the 3rd-Team.

The ICAA is made up of all NCAA Division II Independent institutions with the 2010-11 membership consisting of PBA, North Greenville University, Oakland City University, Urbana University, the University of District of Columbia, and Washington Adventist University.

A third-year forward for Palm Beach Atlantic, Fugate took her game to the next level this past season as she led the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game while also shooting a team-best 43.9% from the field. The versatile 6’1” Okark, Missouri native scored in double-figures a team-high 17 times in 2010-11 while averaging 7.6 rebounds per contest as well.

Starting alongside Fugate in the PBA front-court was 6’0” forward Selethia Jackson, a local product from Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach, Florida.

Jackson continued her solid three-year career wearing the Blue and White by averaging 8.2 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per ballgame. A solid all-around player, Jackson started 27 of the team’s 28 games while shooting 43.6% from the field and playing in 30.9 minutes per contest. Jackson posted seven double-doubles on the season.

The Sailfish finished the season strong in 2010-2011 by winning their last five contests and taking home the Independent Invitational Classic Championship in Washington, D.C under first-year head coach Clarisse Garcia.

Lillian McGill of the District of Columbia, repeated as Player of the Year.  The senior center/forward averaged 12.6 points and 11.1 rebounds a game while shooting 49.2 percent from the floor.  McGill becomes just the third athlete in any sport to earn All-ICAA honors four times.  She joins Jada Richardson (Columbia Union – women’s basketball) and Stephanie Orr (Tiffin – softball) in the elite group.

Iniquia Snell of Central State was named Freshman of the Year.  The guard averaged 13.83 points, 5.96 rebounds and 2.13 steals a game while shooting 75.6 percent from the line.
