WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Sailfish tennis head coach Chi Ly has announced his first official national letter of intent signing in Saint Louis, Missouri native Mick Lyons. A recent graduate of Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri, Lyons will begin his collegiate career at Palm Beach Atlantic in the fall and will be joining a team that once again finished with solid results at the NCCAA National Championships this past week.
Lyons attended Lafayette High School for three years with two of those seasons playing at #1-singles and doubles. Competing at the Missouri Class Two level, Lyons was able to tally a fifth place finish in doubles at the State Championships.
Following his sophomore season at LHS, Lyons moved to Marietta, Georgia and enrolled at the Universal Tennis Academy in an attempt to expand his all-around court game, improve conditioning, and prepare for the rigors of collegiate tennis. He completed this training in conjunction of being enrolled at George Walton High School as a student.
After returning to Saint Louis for his senior season, Lyons was named the recipient of the Lancer Award and the LHS Choice Award for his outstanding success on the tennis court.
Not only a standout in tennis, Lyons has also been recognized as a strong academic student as well by being named as a Renaissance Student for Academic Excellence all four years of high school. Active within other areas of interest as well during his prep career, Lyons was a member of the Key Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and his church youth group.
Mick is the son of Patrick and Mary Lyons.
