Tigerville, S.C.- Jumping out to a quick and early lead, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer team started hot and cruised down the stretch as they took down Emmanuel College in the first round of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional tournament on Friday by a score of 4-0 which now puts the Sailfish into the championship final against North Greenville University tomorrow morning.
Junior Daniel Abrahamsohn (Pacifica, Calif.) got the scoring started when he tallied the game’s first goal in the 14th minute off a pass from Chance Sumner (Valrico, Fla./Durant HS). The early scoring was just getting started for PBA as junior Jerris Gay (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter Christian HS) registered PBA’s second goal just one minute after Abrahamsohn’s. Cheyne Roberts (Plant City, Fla./Plant City HS) collected the assist.
In quick fashion, the Fish would strike again in the 17th minute when Abrahamsohn tallied an unassisted goal to push the advantage to 3-0 which would hold for the remaining portion of the half.
With this being the second contest between PBA and Emmanuel on the season, the Sailfish continued to push things in the second half although they would collect only one goal. That score came from senior Matt Sweesy (Simpsonville, S.C.) who gave the Fish score number four on an assist from freshman Kyle Crouse (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland Christian HS).
Now 12-4 on the season, PBA will take on North Greenville University in the championship final after NGU downed Southern Wesleyan University 2-1 in an exciting semi-final match to set up the championship on Saturday. The Sailfish defeated the Crusaders back on September 1st by a score of 7-0.
