Men's Tennis Rebounds for Shutout Victory Over Ave Maria University

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- After falling 9-0 on Friday afternoon at #1-ranked Barry University, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team turned the table on their Saturday opponent by defeating Ave Maria University by a 9-0 score of their own. The bottom two doubles tandems didn’t drop a set while AMU managed only seven game victories during all of singles action on a blustery day at Gaines Park.

Although sunshine would peek through the clouds for much of the day Saturday, play would effected by gusting winds and somewhat cooler temperatures for both teams to endure.

Krasimir Atanasov teamed with partner Luke Bolanos for a solid 8-3 win at #1-doubles then the veteran tandem watched Bastian Guenther and Alex Minicozzi post an 8-0 win at #2-doubles. Jonathan Kalis and newcomer Evan Sahlman contributed an 8-0 win of their own at #3-doubles.

In singles competition, it would be straight set victories at #2, and #4, #5, and #6 with Guenther, Minicozzi, Cole Conley, and Jamie Verd each winning 6-0, 6-0.

Atanasov knocked off his #1-singles competitor 6-0, 6-3 while Bolanos posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at #3-singles.

The victory improves Palm Beach Atlantic to 2-1 on the young season. They will be back in action in ten days as they will travel to Northwood University across town for a 3 pm matchup with the Seahawks.
