MURFREESBORO, N.C.- Getting a pair of first-half goals, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer team would play strong defense in cooler temperatures on Friday afternoon as they took down Emmanuel College (Ga.) in the first-round of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional Tournament, hosted by Chowan University.

Senior Juan Villagrana took a shot from 20 yards away from goal to notch the game’s first score in the 8th minute as his shot connected with the crossbar then went into goal for a 1-0 Sailfish lead.

Freshman Evan Singlar would provide the other score for PBA which came in the 24th minute.

Although official statistics are not available at this time, the Fish defense did post its ninth shutout of the season including their third in a row against the Lions. Sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Strunk posted the shutout in goal for the Sailfish.

A win on Saturday afternoon will clinch the Sailfish a spot at the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida.
