PBA Men's and Women's Tennis Both Ranked in Top-50

SKILLMAN, N.J.- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Wednesday their preseason rankings for the men’s and women’s ranks for tennis programs within the NCAA Division II. Both Palm Beach Atlantic University teams are ranked nationally while PBA men’s player Krasimir Atanasov finds himself as the #24-ranked singles player in the country.
Joining Atanasov in the rankings is fellow junior Luke Bolanos who has teamed up with Atanasov to form the #17-ranked doubles tandem in Division II.
Coming off a national championship season within the NCCAA, the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team brings back a formidable roster headlined by Atanasov and Bolanos while also welcoming in some added depth to make for potentially an even stronger team going into the 2011 season. They stand at #50 in the preseason team rankings for the NCAA.
The PBA women’s team stands at #43 nationally in the preseason rankings after a historic season of their own in 2010. The Sailfish women’s team became the first Sailfish tennis squad, male or female, to earn a team victory at the NCAA Regional Tournament when they defeated Delta State University to advance. They would also go on to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament where they would be defeated in the national championship match.
