Women's Tennis Defeats Division I Towson University

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team hosted NCAA Division I, Towson University on Tuesday evening which saw the young Sailfish come away with their first win against a Division I opponent as they defeated Towson 6-3.
PBA and Towson began the match in singles competition and split the six sets as the Sailfish won at number one, two, and three including freshman Montserrat Ripoll (Mexico City, Mexico) winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at the number two slot in the order for head coach Chi Ly.
Number five singles player Katie Livesay (Dayton, Tenn.) a captain on this year’s squad, competed in one of the more lengthy matches of the season as it lasted nearly 3 ½ hours with Towson eventually coming out on top 7-5, 5-7, 7-5.
Moving into doubles, PBA and Towson were deadlocked at three wins a piece before the Lady Fish swept the three doubles competitions 8-3, 8-2, 8-6.
The Lady Sailfish now stand at 7-8 on the season.
