MURFREESBORO, N.C.- Although they were held off the scoreboard for the first 30 or so minutes, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer team would get going soon enough as they tallied a pair of goals in the first-half then three more in the second-half to win easily 5-0 on the road in North Carolina. Senior Kyle Crouse tallied a pair of goals along with an assist to lead the way.
Now 7-5 on the season, the Sailfish out shot their opponent by a 29-3 count while earning seven corner kicks compared to only two for CU. Chowan did not register a shot in the second-half.
Sailfish goalkeeper Jonathan Strunk tallied the shutout in goal while making one save in 60 minutes of work before giving way to freshman Steven Bush.
Crouse got things started just before the 29th minute when he delivered the first score at the six-yard box past CU goalkeeper Scott Cullen. The senior Lakeland, Florida native would assist freshman Evan Singlar on the Sailfish next goal as he delivered a cross into the box that Singlar neatly put away for the game’s second goal.
The 2-0 score would hold up until just after half-time when Crouse collected his second score, this time from fellow senior Josh Sharpe who delivered a through ball for a 3-0 lead in the 47th minute.
Just past the 60th minute gave the Sailfish another scoring opportunity as Sharpe registered another assist, this time crossing a ball near the goal where sophomore Charlie Hubbard headed the ball in for a goal.
Andres Tuesta made it a 5-0 final score when he collected a rebound of an Aaron Michael assist for the game’s final tally.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns home but will have a quick turnaround as they will welcome in Rollins College at 3 pm on Monday, October 25th at Magic Jack Field.
