PALM CITY, Fla.- While not on the original schedule, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team picked up an extra match on Tuesday evening as they hosted McMurry University in Palm City, Florida for what would turn out to be a long-lasting match.
Continuing their busy spring schedule, PBA downed McMurry 5-4 and improved their overall record to 12-5 on the season as they continue to hold to their #37 national ranking in the NCAA Division II polls.
Brock Newton (Roanoke, Va.) and John Tilton (Salem, Ore.) continued to be a dominant force for head coach Chi Ly at the number one doubles spot as the pair earned a 8-5 victory as did the Sailfish doubles number two pair Paul Segodo (Benin, Africa) and Frankie Moulton (Greenacres, Fla.) with an identical 8-5 victory.
Newton and Segodo each brought home victories in the top two singles matchups respectively while Tilton clinched the match with a win at number four singles. PBA was without the service of sophomore Lukas Colombo (Santiago, Chile) because of an academic commitment.
The Fish will next take to the tennis court again on Thursday, March 20th as they will play host to Hastings College (Neb.) with a 2:45 pm scheduled start at the Hutchinson Island Tennis Complex.
