PBA Men's Tennis Earns Match Victory Over Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- Traveling to Eckerd College, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team returned home to West Palm Beach on Saturday evening with an 8-1 victory over the Tritons. The #37th ranked Sailfish completed the win and improved to 11-4.

Brock Newton (Roanoke, Va.), PBA’s #1 singles player and currently ranked #35 in the NCAA Division II national rankings, cruised to a victory of 6-3, 6-2 at number one singles for the Fish followed up by senior Paul Segodo’s (Benin, Africa) 6-1, 6-3 win at number two singles.

The only real scare for the Fish came at number five singles which witnessed a tough match for James Buerkle (Lake Worth, Fla.) as he was victorious 4-6, 7-6 (4), and 10-1.

PBA dropped their only set of the day at number one doubles as Eckerd’s Hisa Sata and Ben Maxwell defeated Newton and doubles partner John Tilton (Salem, Ore.) by a score of 8-5.
