WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s basketball team has a clean slate in front of them along with a brand new look for the upcoming season. Upon her arrival to West Palm Beach in the beginning of May, new head coach Clarisse Garcia has already made some significant changes and the women’s basketball program is excited to release the highly competitive schedule for the upcoming year.
Now under the leadership of a new coaching staff and veteran players, the Lady Sailfish anticipate great things to come this upcoming season.
PBA will showcase 11 home games in the Rubin Arena this year, with the home opener scheduled to take place on Friday, November 12th against Warner University at 4 pm. The Blue and White will play host to Sunshine State Conference rivals Nova Southeastern University, Florida Tech, and Florida Southern College early on in the young season, prior to the Christmas holiday.
Scheduled to play over half of their regular-season games out of town, the Sailfish hope to improve their record on the road this year. The women will participate in two new tournaments this season which will take place at Florida Tech in December, and Washington D.C. in February. Additionally, the squad will travel to compete against their Georgia neighbors in Columbus State University and Clayton State University at the start of the new year.
An NCAA Division II South Region program, the PBA women’s basketball team has a challenging road ahead of them this year, facing top-ranked programs in various Sunshine State Conference opponents, Peach Belt Conference teams, and quality NAIA regional schools.
Also a Division I member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, the Sailfish will have the opportunity to qualify for the NCCAA South Regional Tournament to be held in Tigerville, South Carolina on February 21st-23rd. A championship there would earn them a ticket to the NCCAA National Tournament hosted on March 17th-19th at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.
