SKILLMAN, N.J.- Not only talented players on the tennis court but also in the classroom, Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis duo of sophomores Krasimir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos were each honored this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as Scholar-Athletes for their outstanding academic success. Considered a strong returning core to the 2011 hopes for the Fish, both players will be looked upon to lead the team into the future.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
Both Atanasov and Bolanos will be gearing up for some stiff competition in the fall before hitting the courts once again during the spring championship season for the Sailfish.
