WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Continuing to try and improve the Sailfish men’s basketball program each year, Palm Beach Atlantic University head coach Terry Primm has announced three additions to his roster with each scheduled to enroll in school and join the team in the fall. All three student-athletes are transfers with each having played at varying levels. All three are expected to contribute to the success of the Sailfish program next season.
The three new additions are Anaclet Mulumba Mbayi, Ian Sitz, and David Wood.
Mbayi will transfer to PBA after spending the past two seasons at NCAA Division I, Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. A 6’7”, 220 forward, Mbayi brings much needed size and strength to the Sailfish front-court for next season.
A resident of Montreal, Canada, Mbayi sat out his true freshman season in 2008-2009 then returned to the court last season and played in 20 games for the Knights including starting five games. Averaging 15 minutes of court time per game, Mbayi was mostly used as a reserve forward off the bench.
Ian Sitz comes to PBA after a solid junior college career at Central Community College in Nebraska. Sitz shot nearly 50% from beyond the three-point arc as a sophomore and chose PBA over a number of NCAA Division I offers extended to the sweet-shooting big man.
A 6’8” left-handed product from O’Neil, Nebraska, Sitz averaged 12 points and six rebounds a game this past season for the CCC Raiders before deciding on the Fish to extend his collegiate career.
The final addition for 2010-2011 comes from David Wood, a transfer from Florida Southern College, a NCAA Division II institution in Lakeland, Florida and a member of the Sunshine State Conference.
Wood brings a scoring reputation with him to PBA after a solid two-year junior college career at nearby Palm Beach Community College. In his two seasons with the Panthers, Wood was near the top of the team leaders in scoring both seasons and averaged over 10 points a game for his career at PBCC.
Wood competed at the high school level for Westlake Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he averaged just over 38 points per game during his senior campaign as Westlake went on to the Class 1A regional tournament.
All three members of the Sailfish will soon report to West Palm Beach to begin the next phase of their collegiate careers.
