GREENVILLE, S.C.- After wrapping up a historic season that saw the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team make their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Regional tournament and a runner-up finish at the NCCAA National Tournament, the Sailfish women’s tennis program has received some individual recognition through postseason accolades. Lina Rubiano, Natalie Aleman, Natalia Trotter, and Amber Braaten were all named NCCAA All-Americans.

Named to the NCCAA All-American 1st Team for the third straight season, Rubiano moved up to #1-singles this season as a junior and confidently led the Sailfish to a 16-win season while also helping the team record their first-ever victory at a NCAA postseason event with a 5-4 upset of Delta State University in the first-round of the NCAA South Regional tournament.

Joining Rubiano on the NCCAA All-American 1st-Team was Aleman who closed out her four-year Sailfish tennis career with a solid showing at both tournaments. A three-year team captain and one of the top singles and doubles players for PBA, Aleman teamed with sophomore Amber Braaten in earning NCCAA All-American 2nd Team honors for doubles.

Natalia Trotter joined the Sailfish tennis team just before the season began and developed into a solid singles and doubles player for head coach Chi Ly. For her efforts, the Guadalajara, Mexico native was named to the NCCAA All-American 2nd-Team listing for singles and joined Rubiano for honors in doubles on the NCCAA All-American 1st-Team.

With all but Aleman returning for 2011, the Sailfish women’s tennis program will look to continue to develop to sustained-success in the NCAA and NCCAA.
