MOBILE, Ala.- After back-to-back runner-up finishes earlier this century, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team finally broke through with a national championship at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. After a semi-final victory earlier in the day on Thursday, the Sailfish clinched the title in dominating fashion with a 5-0 win over North Greenville University

Earning the first NCCAA national championship in any men’s sport, the Sailfish did so this week without much trouble in terms of dropping games. The Sailfish won 30-4 over their six matches during the three-day tournament with four 5-0 sweeps including the championship match.

Perhaps even more special for the Fish was that seniors Tyler Deally and Frankie Moulton clinched the championship at #4 and #5 singles as they backed up a solid doubles performance from all six participants for PBA.

Krasimir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos continued their solid play at the top of doubles action with an 8-3 win while Dealy and Moulton came in at #2-doubles with an 8-4 victory. Alex Minicozzi and Corey Kuglin continued to carry the team at #3-doubles with an 8-4 win as well.

In the semi-final victory over Olivet Nazarene, the only games dropped by the Fish came at #2-doubles and #3-singles as the Fish went into the finals with an undefeated team record.
