MOBILE, Ala.- After making school history by being the first Sailfish athletic team to earn a NCAA Regional win last week at the South Regional Tournament, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team was back in action on Tuesday at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. The Fish came away with a pair of wins to get off to a great start in pool play.
The Sailfish, who have finished runner-up at the NCCAA tournament the past two years, began their action with a 5-0 win over North Greenville University while then coming away with a 5-1 defeat over Cedarville University in match number two.
The ladies were stellar in both matches with the only loss coming against Cedarville being at number two doubles. Lina Rubiano and Natalia Trotter teamed up for an 8-2 number one doubles win against CU while freshman Jordan Ittersagen and junior Krishna Domenech collected an 8-3 victory.
With the pair of wins, Palm Beach Atlantic will now take on Olivet Nazarene University on Wednesday morning followed by semifinal play in the afternoon.
