WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team welcomed in Rollins College on Saturday afternoon at Gaines Park for a weekend match. The #8-ranked Tars proved too strong however for the #43-ranked Sailfish as they topped the Fish 9-0 while dropping the Sailfish to 8-8 on the season.
The Fish once again started off strong at the top with their #1-doubles duo of Krasimir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos just barely missing an opening victory by falling 9-7. From that point the Tars took firmer control of the match as they won 8-2 and 8-1 at #2 and #3-doubles respectively.
Number one singles proved to be a matchup of two of the top players in the NCAA South Region with a pair of nationally-ranked singles players in RC’s Jeff Morris (#8) and Atanasov (#28). Morris would get the best of the matchup this time around as he prevailed 6-3, 6-1 over Atanasov.
Unfortunately for the Sailfish, no matchup would go more than two sets in each of the remaining singles games of the match.
PBA will close out their regular season action with a road contest at Florida Southern College on Monday, April 12th at 3 p.m.
