ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- After a busy spring break week in Orlando the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team still had enough energy and fight in them to muster one more victory as they knocked off Eckerd College in St. Pete on Saturday afternoon to complete a very successful trip. The Fish earned a 6-3 win over the Tritons.

Palm Beach Atlantic got off to a great start on Saturday against Eckerd by sweeping the three sections of doubles competition to put themselves in prime position for the remainder of the match.

Lina Rubiano and Natalia Trotter continued to do good things at the top with an 8-5 #1-doubles win while senior Natalie Aleman and sophomore Amber Braaten posted a win of their own at #2-doubles. Freshman Jordan Ittersagen and junior Krishna Domenech closed out the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at #3-doubles.

Even though Rubiano was defeated in the top flight of the singles portion, the Fish would go right back to work at #2-singles with Aleman taking down her opponent by a 6-2, 6-3 tally. With Eckerd creeping back into the match with victories at #3 and #4-singles respectively, the Sailfish made it a more comfortable victory by winning the final two singles portions.

Ittersagen delivered the 6-1, 6-0 win at #5-singles while Domenech won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at #6-singles to close out the match.

The Sailfish will now prepare for a week of rest before hitting the courts at home against the University of Tampa on Saturday, March 20th at 2 p.m. for a match at Gaines Park against the Lady Spartans.
