McKendree Pushes Through for Hard-Fought Win Over PBA in Men's Tennis

ORLANDO, Fla.- In what was a close match at nearly every turn, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team took on McKendree University (Ill.) on Tuesday afternoon as a part of their week-long Spring Break trip to Orlando. Despite some solid efforts, the Sailfish were unable to hold down McKendree as they took the match 6-3 over the #36-ranked Sailfish.

After Krasimir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos teamed up for a dominating win at #1-doubles it appeared as if the Sailfish were well on their way to another big victory. Those dreams quickly faded when MC took #2 and #3-doubles by the scores of 8-5 and 8-6 respectively.

Atanasov once again got things rolling in the right direction with a victory at #1-singles although it took the sophomore Bulgaria native three sets to earn the victory with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 come-from-behind win.

Up next stepped Alex Minicozzi at #2-singles who was defeated 6-0, 6-3 while Bolanos lost 6-2, 6-4 at #3-singles to once again put McKendree in front.

The final three games of singles action would all go to three sets with Tyler Dealy at #5-singles being the only one to earn a win at 6-2, 6-0, and 6-4. Both Frankie Moulton and Corey Kuglin were defeated.

Palm Beach Atlantic will now turn their focus to Wednesday’s matchup with Saint Cloud State University of Minnesota at 8 a.m.
