ORLANDO, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team began their spring break week in fine fashion on Saturday evening as they handed Howard Payne University (Tex.) an 8-1 loss as both teams met in a neutral site match. The Fish won all six singles games on their way to a dominating win over HPU in their first of six matches in Orlando during the week.
Krasimir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos teamed up for their usual good play at #1-doubles and posted an 8-2 win to put PBA on top. After the Sailfish #2-doubles team took a loss 8-5, junior Alex Minicozzi and Corey Kuglin fired back with an 8-6 win at #3-doubles to keep the Fish in control.
While two of the singles went to three sets, the Sailfish as a team held strong to close out the dominating win.
Atanasov posted 6-1, 6-2 victories at #1-singles while Minicozzi was pushed to three sets at #2-singles with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 win. Bolanos kept the Sailfish rolling at #3-singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory followed by senior Frankie Moulton following suit with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at #4-singles.
