Highly Ranked Lynn Too Strong for Sailfish Men's Tennis

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Matching up two top-40 men’s tennis teams for an early season match on Wednesday afternoon, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis squad traveled the short distance to Lynn University for their first trip to the new Perper Tennis Complex. The #3-ranked Fighting Knights were too much for the young Fish to handle as LU prevailed 9-0.

Ranked #37 in the preseason NCAA Division II men’s tennis team rankings, the Sailfish are now 1-1 on the season. Lynn improves to 2-1.

Alex Minicozzi and Corey Kuglin teamed up at #3-doubles for PBA to begin the match and despite some solid runs, came out on the losing end by a tally of 8-4 to the likes of Tomas Racak and Axel Joachim. Frankie Moulton and Tyler Dealy fell 8-0 at #2-doubles.

PBA’s sophomore tandem of Krasimir Atanasov and Luke Bolanos gave everything they had against Al Sarra and Willi Wolfer however the LU combo earned the tie-breaker win at 9-8 (3).

Singles action was more dominant by the Knights as they place three individuals inside the top-32 of singles rankings.

#19-ranked Racak defeated counterpart and #27-ranked Atanasov by a tally of 6-1, 6-1 while #26-ranked Wolfer took care of business against Minicozzi by a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. #32-ranked Luca Pavanelli was victorious over Bolanos 6-1, 6-0.

PBA will next return to the court on Saturday, February 20th when they take on Brandeis University at 1 p.m.
