Men's Basketball Drops Midweek Contest at Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s basketball team hit the road on Wednesday evening for a midweek contest against Nova Southeastern University at the Don Taft University Center. After over an hour delay due to a mishap with the officiating crew, the two teams finally hit the court in what was a competitive and physical contest. The Sharks would hold on to their five point halftime lead and walk away a winner by a final score of 76-68.
Palm Beach Atlantic witnessed a season-best scoring output from senior Jonathan Lawrence who posted a career-high of 25 points on the night however no other Sailfish would reach double-figures in the scoring column.
On the flip side, Nova Southeastern saw a season-high performance from their own senior guard in John Brooks who finished with 21 points but also got 14 and 13 points respectively out of the duo of Alex Gynes and Luke Roesch respectively.
The Sharks connected on 10-of-19 attempts from beyond the three-point line for the night while PBA was limited to only 4-of-19 long-range success. Overall, the Fish held the advantage on the glass with a 42-32 lead in rebounds.
After Lawrence’s career-high of 25 points which came on 10-of-19 shots from the floor, PBA received eight points from sophomore Phil Pejovic and seven points each from seniors Chris Joseph and DeAndre Williams and seven points from Hunter Ross.
Palm Beach Atlantic continues their road swing this week by traveling to Florida Southern College on Saturday in Lakeland, Florida. The men’s teams tip-off at approximately at 7:30 p.m. after the Lady Mocs host the Lady Sailfish at 5:30 p.m.
