KANSAS CITY, Kan.- While his collegiate soccer career has now been concluded, Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer player Cheyne Roberts is still being honored for his good work. An obviously talented and gifted player on the field, Roberts was also recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America team for his outstanding achievements in the classroom.
To be nominated for consideration, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution and either be in their second year at the current school if a transfer student.
The NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America selections will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, held in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA Convention.
For Roberts, this Scholar All-America selection caps off an incredible four-year career that witnessed Roberts and his teammates along with head coach Jose Gomez lead the Sailfish men’s soccer program to heights never seen before in the program’s history.
The winningest four-year period in PBA soccer history, Robert’s teams consistently found themselves amongst the top teams in the highly-competitive NCAA South Region.
Roberts was honored previously by the NSCAA this season as an All-Region 1st-Team selection after starring as a defender. He also collected nine goals and two assists.
