Women's tennis signs standout from New York

WEST PALM BEACH - Christina Gray, a sophomore tennis player from Clifton Park, NY has signed on to become a part of the Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) women's tennis team. Gray, a transfer from State University of New York (SUNY) - Cobleskill, racked up numerous honors while playing in the No. 1 singles position for the Fighting Tigers.

Gray became the first player in SUNY-Cobleskill history, male or female, to capture an individual National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Div. III National Tennis Championship. On top of being nationally ranked in the United States Tennis Association (USTA) during her junior years, Gray was also a participant in the New York State Championships in four out of five years during her high school career.

Tennis coach Chi Ly hopes Gray can bring the same competition to his Sailfish squad: "Christina will bring a lot of offensive fire to our team as she is a very talented individual," noted Ly. "We're excited to see her play in a PBA uniform."

Gray will be a huge addition to a team that posted a 1-16 record in 2006, a season that was an uphill battle from the start. Gray joins two other recruits signed by Coach Ly in his first recruiting year.
