BOCA RATON, Fla.- Hitting the road for a midweek showdown with Palm Beach County rival Lynn University on Thursday evening, the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s basketball team ran into a Fighting Knights team that started hot with their shooting and continued that through the final horn as LU cruised to a 66-48 victory over the Fish.

Lynn (3-4) shot an astonishing 8-of-10 from beyond the arc on the night while finishing the contest with a 57% (26-46) overall shooting mark while the Fish continued to show flashes of solid execution but also times where they struggle to find consistency.

Sophomore shooter Phil Pejovic was a bright spot off the bench for head coach Terry Primm as the Serbian connected on 7-of-14 shots from beyond the arc to lead all scorers with 23 points. Senior guard Chris Joseph was the only other Sailfish player to reach double-figures with 10 points on 4-of-11 from the field.

A very quick contest with only 17 total free-throws shot including 13 by the Fighting Knights, the game lasted under an hour and 40 minutes.

LU led 37-27 at the half after jumping out to a quick 18-4 lead through the first 10 minutes of the game. PBA fought their way back to within two points at 27-25 but then allowed the Knights to go on a 10-2 run to close out the half and enter the lockeroom leading by double-figures.

The lead would balloon again early in the second-half to as many as 16 points before the Fish once again got back in things by more strong outside shooting from Pejovic as the lead dwindled back to single-digits with around 10 minutes to play in the half.

Utilizing their small roster, both in height and in numbers, the Knights then pushed their lead back out to as many as 18 points as the final score indicated.

Lynn was paced by the strong play of junior guard Chris Hall who totaled 17 points to reach his game average for the season followed by three more teammates in double-figures including Brandon Kennedy and Kendall Butler with 12 and 11 points off the bench respectively and Rodney Kennedy with 11 points as well.

Michel Vidal pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds while adding in six points.

The Sailfish (1-9) will welcome in Florida Southern College for a double-header on Saturday, December 12th as the women’s teams suit up for a 3 p.m. matchup followed by the men’s teams at approximately 5 p.m. Both games will be aired live on the Sailfish Sports Network through video coverage provided by Penn Atlantic.
