CLEVELAND, Ga.- Posting their third straight shutout of the week, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s soccer team came away with another 2-0 victory on Saturday as they pushed past a pesky Truett McConnell College team as Sailfish junior Angie Kuhn tallied two second-half goals to guide the team to a 3-0 week.
Despite outshooting TMC by a solid margin in the first-half, the Sailfish (6-8-1) were unable to tally a goal as the goalkeeper made a number of solid saves to keep the game scoreless through the first-half.
PBA would finally break through in the second-half as freshman Juliet Waller delivered a cross to the front of the goal where Kuhn one-touched the ball past the keeper for the matches’ first score.
A through ball from Ashley Shoaf set up goal number two as Kuhn made easy work of a breakaway goal to move to a 2-0 score. That is where the final tally stood as PBA won their third straight match, all via shutout after earning victories earlier in the week at Eckerd College and against North Greenville University on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Kayla Webb earned the start in goal for PBA and tallied her first career shutout as the Riverview, Florida native played all 90 minutes to earn the victory.
Official game statistics will be posted as soon as they become available.
With the regular season now wrapped up, the Sailfish will turn their focus to the upcoming NCCAA Regional Tournament set to take place in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to pbasailfish.com for future updates on the playing schedule for the Sailfish.
