Lady Fish Tally Comeback but End in Tie with St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- Trailing 2-0 at the half-way point, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s soccer team came through with two second-half goals to equal St. Thomas University on Wednesday afternoon, with neither team producing a goal the rest of the way or in overtime for a tie.
The first tie of the season for the Sailfish, PBA’s record now stands at 4-7-1 with four regular season games remaining.
Jessica McCormack found the back of the net first for STU with a goal in the 23rd minute after a corner kick found its way into the box. Nearly four and a half minutes later the Bobcats would score again as Lotta Vartia took a deep shot that made its way into goal as well.
Regrouping after halftime, the Sailfish cut the deficit to one goal when freshman Jennie Weil scored in the 68th minute and then earned a late tie with a goal from junior Angie Kuhn in the 84th minute to knot the score at 2-2.
Despite their best efforts in the two ten minute overtime periods neither team would score and the match would be finalized at 2-2.
Official game statistics are still being compiled and will be posted as soon as possible.
PBA will take on another NAIA opponent in their next match which will be a trip to Daytona Beach, Florida for a showdown with always-tough Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Friday, October 30th at 5 p.m.
