DELAND, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s cross country team traveled to Deland, Florida on Friday evening to take part in the Hatter Invitational hosted by Stetson University.  With clouds of thunder and rain looming in the background all evening, the Sailfish runners stormed the course at the Sterling Sports Complex en route to a solid team performance.

PBA freshman and Sarasota, Florida native Kyle Mason continued to stake his claim as the best Sailfish distance runner.  Mason paced the Sailfish attack with an 8K time of 31:24 to finish 90th overall and finished ahead of several division I runners.

Mason was followed to the finish line by senior Kyle Pryce (33:03), sophomore Matthew Lorton (33:31), junior Brad Treen (34:31), and junior Stephen Tucker (37:10).

For junior Brad Treen, the Hatter Invitational was just another chance to show how well he has improved from the beginning of the season.  Treen joined the team just after the semester and season had started in late August, and according to head coach Bob White, he has been the most improved Sailfish runner.

The Fish ended the Hatter Invitational in 16th place overall among a field of many talented division I runners.  Ken Rotich from East Tennessee State University took the individual title with an outstanding 8K time of 25:18.  East Tennessee State also left the Sterling Sports Complex with the team title.
