PBA Women's Cross Country Battles at Mountain Dew InvitationaL

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- Taking on some of the fiercest competition in the state, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s cross country team hit the road on Friday to compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida. Five PBA runners placed in the top 200 as the Fish earned an 18th place finish as a team.
Freshman Katherine Harvey paced the Sailfish runners for the second-consecutive meet as she posted a team-best time of 22:08 to finish 132nd in the women’s 5K run. Fellow freshman Faith Warren was next in line for the young Sailfish squad as she finished her meet in 22:35, good for 140th overall.
Senior Gina Battista was next for Palm Beach Atlantic with a time of 23:15 (169th) followed by Berkley Simpson at 23:41 (180th). Senior Danielle Navish rounded out PBA’s top-200 performers with a time of 24:06 (192nd).
Other PBA runners competing included Chelsea Scalzo (27:44), Abalyn McMullen (28:28), Stradlyne Hallman (28:44) and Cealia Brannan (28:47).
UF earned the team victory in their own meet and were followed by the University of Tampa, the University of South Florida, Jacksonville University, and the University of Central Florida to round out the top five.
Gators runner Charlotte Browning earned the individual medalist honors with a time of 17:25 followed by teammate Genevieve LaCaze in second place at 17:41.
The Lady Fish will next compete in the FLRunners.com Invitational on Saturday, October 2nd in Titusville, Florida.
