Sailfish Take on Tough Field at UF Mountain Dew Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s cross country team traveled to the University of Florida on Friday evening to participate in the Mountain Dew Invitational against the likes of top NCAA Division I, Division II, and NAIA opponents from around the state. The second-meet of the young season for the Sailfish, they once again gained valuable experience as they move forward in the 2009 season.
Participating in the 8K run, the Sailfish were up against teams such as Florida Atlantic, the University of North Florida, the University of Miami, tradition-rich Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and the host Gators of the University of Florida.
Leading the way for PBA was freshman runner Kyle Mason who finished with a time of 32:16 while senior Kyle Pryce tallied a personal-best with a time of 32:46. Mason finished 171st in the meet while Pryce came away with a finish of 175th.
Three other Sailfish runners competed as well including sophomore Matthew Lorton (33:44) for 181st, junior Stephen Tucker (35:56) at 191st, and junior Brad Treen (37:41) for 194th.
The top performer at the meet was from Embry-Riddle as Evans Kirwa, a freshman, posted an impressive 24:21 time to win by nearly three seconds over Anthony Morales from UF.
PBA will be back in action on Saturday, October 2nd as they will travel to the FLRunners.com Invitational in Titusville, Florida.
